Founded in 2019 as EnerCool Asia Pacific Limited to ‘reimagine cooling for climate impact’ at the start of the Hong Kong riots followed by two years of Covid, our Hong Kong based team survived and delivered results. As of today, we deployed solutions to 13,500 RT (~50 MW) of cooling capacity and delivered sustained energy efficiency savings of up to 30%, saving our clients ~5.4 GWh/yr and ~3,600 tCO2eq/yr.

Our traction is good, but we decided to first reimagine who we are to accelerate delivering real climate impact. We recognized that “rooftops” represent the largest addressable opportunity to quickly and significantly reduce a buildings carbon footprint with a rapid payback, and that commercial and industrial “rooftops” all have cooling assets, in addition to renewable energy and storage deployment potential. The RoofTop (RT) focus was born, knowing that cooling assets can be in the building or on the ground, but the analogy felt right. We also knew our focus was on cooling, and a common measure of cooling capacity is the refrigeration ton, or RT.

We also realized that cooling is simply an expression of energy, and that the cooling plant is just an energy conversion facility. The basics of sustainable energy management is to prioritize demand reduction then clean energy supply. It became clear that energy management is critical to deliver climate impact, so as of 24/03/01, we have rebranded as RTenergy Limited.

Our mission has become more focused: delivering sustainable cooling solutions to reduce our client’s total cost of cooling and carbon footprint. To ‘deliver’, we developed RT360, an integrated solution that incorporates ‘hardware’ focused regenerative efficiency technologies with a ‘software-as-a-service’ focused energy optimization platform and a ‘services’ focused predictive maintenance platform to sustain benefits delivered. Our ‘services’ will also include renewable energy / energy storage to further reduce the total cost of cooling and carbon footprint, in addition to performance contracting, green financing and carbon credits.
